Friday, Khordad 1388:
Tomorrow -
a Saturday.
A day of destiny.
Tonight the sound of God - the cries of Allahu Akbar - grow
Greater, heard ever louder and louder
Than previous nights past
Where is this place?
Where is this place where every door is closed?
Where is this place where the people cry for God?
Where is this place - where the cries for God get
Greater, heard ever louder and louder?
I wait through the night
Wondering if these cries will get louder
or their numbers greater
I am shaken
I wonder if God is.
Where is this place where the innocent are entrapped?
Where is this place where deliverance comes not?
Where is this place where silence bears our voices to the world?
Where is this place - where the blood of youth runs on the streets
On which the people pray?
Upon the streets
Upon the blood the people pray.
Where is this place - where citizens are named as
Gangsters and thugs, spat upon like dirt and dust?
Where is this place.
Where is this?
Do you want me to tell you?
This place is Iran
This is Iran
My homeland
And yours.
This is Iran.
